— 2026-2027 cycle — major changes in zones 7, 8, 21, 27
Northern pike (grand brochet) is one of Quebec's top freshwater predators. The 2026 General Order brings a sweeping change in zones 7 (Outaouais south), 8 (Lake St-Pierre + tributaries), 21 (Saguenay), and 27 (Charlevoix): only 1 pike per day, minimum length raised from 56 cm to 70 cm, fishing line only (no spear/gaff), and transport must be whole or gutted. Outside these zones the standard quota applies.
Pike length limits were significantly tightened in 2026:
| Zones 7, 8, 21, 27 | 70 cm minimum (NEW — was 56 cm) |
| Lake à la Tortue (zone 7) | No length limit (special — repealed 2026) |
| Other zones | No min length (verify regpec) |
Pike opens the 3rd Saturday of May in most zones, closes around mid-April. In zones 7/8/21/27, additional fishing restrictions apply during the special winter periods (Nov 1 – Dec 19, Mar 16 – 31).
