Trout Lures: The Best Lures for Trout in Quebec
We picked the lures that catch brook, rainbow and brown trout, in lakes and rivers alike, along with the light gear that makes fishing enjoyable.
Trout call for a finesse approach: small lures, light line and a light rod. Brook trout, Quebec’s emblematic fish, live in cool lakes and streams, often in a ZEC or at an outfitter; rainbow trout are mostly stocked.
Small inline spinners and spinners remain the most effective lures for beginners. Trout dough bait catches stocked trout from shore, and fly fishing delivers the biggest thrill when trout are rising to the surface.
Rules vary a lot from one body of water to another (ZEC, outfitter, wildlife reserve, specially managed lakes): always check the regulations and permitted baits before heading out.
