No, this is not the biblical lake. The Laurentian lac Tibériade owes its name to the biblical place names adopted across the region in the late 19th century: it is an enlargement of ruisseau Jourdain — the Jordan stream — and the name was made official on 5 December 1968. It sits in Rivière-Rouge, in the Sainte-Véronique sector, MRC d'Antoine-Labelle. Public access is at 298 rue de la Plage, Sainte-Véronique sector, where the municipality maintains a boat ramp and a public dock. The site is easy to reach and also serves other lakeside activities — swimming, picnicking and launching small craft. Washing your craft and its accessories is mandatory. An automated station stands near the public launch, but it runs on a key: an attendant hands it out Thursday to Monday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Outside those hours you must go through the town's urban planning and environment department, with conditions and fees. This is not a formality: it directly supports the lake's water quality and the health of the water body. The pricing is what to know before you leave: washing is free for a resident pass holder, but a visitor pays $40. Seasonal campers must leave a $100 deposit. The municipality gives priority to small craft: the lake's water quality is considered fragile and protecting it means limiting pressure. The lake in numbers, from the Conseil régional de l'environnement des Laurentides: a surface of 1.91 km², a volume of 20,477,000 m³, a maximum depth of 22.6 m and a mean depth of 10.7 m, at an altitude of 251 m. It is not a shallow pond: that mean depth is a large part of why the lake is considered fragile. Its watershed covers 77.51 km² including lakes, and water renewal takes about 0.40 of a year — under five months. The lake sits in the Rouge River watershed, managed by OBV RPNS. CRE Laurentides publishes water quality monitoring for the water body — that is the source to check for a current reading rather than trusting an impression on site. The Rivière-Rouge municipality governs access through its own by-laws, which can change from season to season: check with the town before travelling, especially for wash station hours and fees. For a multi-day stay, Camping Sainte-Véronique sits on the lake at 320 chemin du Tour-du-Lac-Tibériade. It has close to 200 sites, a lifeguarded sand beach, kayaking on ruisseau Jourdain, trails up to the Mont Sainte-Véronique lookout and access to the P'tit Train du Nord. It is the closest lodging to the public launch. On the fish side, two sources complement each other. The MELCCFP fish consumption guide confirms largemouth bass and walleye — those are the species shown on this page, because they rest on an official source. Anglers have separately logged smallmouth bass, brook trout and white sucker on Fishbrain, with a documented 19-inch smallmouth bass as the largest catch. Northern pike and yellow perch also come up in fishing groups. Those later reports are self-declared, cover only nine catches and are verified by no manager: treat them as a lead, not an inventory.
