Our #1 pick
Vexilar
Best Overall Choice
Under the ice, you’re fishing blind—unless you have a fish finder. Seeing the fish swim toward your lure in real time completely changes a day of ice fishing.
Circular flashers (instant readout, winter-specific models), portable fishfinders with screens, or under-ice cameras: each has its own strengths. We look at target accuracy, battery life in cold weather, and screen readability.
We go ice fishing on Quebec's lakes every winter. This ranking is based on the devices' actual features (range, battery life, display) and our experience.
