The most useful thing in your tackle box
The round jig head isn't a lure by itself — it's the foundation you thread your soft plastic or live bait onto. The most-used component in tournament fishing.
Sizes
- 1/16 oz: trout, perch, shallows
- 1/8 oz: finesse bass, shallow walleye
- 1/4 oz: walleye 3–6 m, bass in wind
- 3/8 to 1/2 oz: deep walleye, lake trout jigging
Winning combos
- Jig + soft worm: Texas-style for bass
- Jig + live minnow: walleye killer
- Jig + grub: trout and perch
- Jig + tube: smallmouth bass on rocky bottom
Basic technique
Cast, let it sink (count seconds), then lift with small snaps of the rod (snap-snap-pause). The strike happens 90 % of the time on the drop — stay ready.
